Five Reasons Why I Love and Respect Min Yoongi

A wise man once said, "Min Suga genius jjang jjang man boong boong," and he wasn't wrong. Min Yoongi, one of my two biases, is an extraordinary man who captured my heart from the very beginning. Although this list is not all-inclusive, here are some reasons why I love and respect Min Yoongi.

Reason One: He's a fantastic musician and composer

Yoongi started music at a young age, beginning his compositions at age thirteen after being inspired by Epik High. He's worked at a record studio and as an underground rapper, and has over 90 songs accredited to his name by the Korea Music Copyright Association. He not only writes, but produces music for other artists outside of BTS, such as Lee So-ra's "Song Request", Suran's "Wine", and most recently, IU's "Eight". Although he states he's not as well-versed on the instrument, Yoongi has played piano since he was a child. His hunger for making music has turned him into a well-rounded composer and producer.

Reason Two: He has a quiet way of caring for others

Yoongi once stated in an interview that his father has always cared for his family in a quiet way, showing affection through little things. He has expressed that he wants to be like his father in this aspect, and the other members joke about the way he shows his affection, like handing a member a water bottle without even looking their way. He really makes sure the members are taken care of, especially making sure they are fed. He's been known to cook the members' favorites without them asking and giving other members his entire share so that they can eat instead.

Reason Three: His sense of humor is impeccable

Yoongi's dry sense of humor is something I hope to achieve one day. With great comments such as, "I want to be a rock in the next life," and, "My mom told me she adopted me from under a bridge. I'm going to my birthplace," there's no denying that he's a funny guy. Yoongi even keeps up the illusion that Yoonji is in fact a separate person, but will not be returning to social media any time soon as she is a busy student who is probably focused on her daily tasks. As for her most current whereabouts, Yoongi states, "She may be eating rice and doing homework."

Reason Four: He's a firm reminder that schooling isn't everything

On several occasions, Yoongi has been known to note, while education is important, it is ultimately not the most important factor in our daily lives. During the time period that students were preparing for entrance exams in Korea, Yoongi was requested to give some encouraging words in his live show. He wished for good results for all the students taking exams, but he also reminded us that, "In life, there are so many things that are much more important than that. Much more important than what school you go to." He's also expressed in special messages from BTS regarding exams that school is important, but it's not the end goal. In a world where so much importance is placed on traditional education, it's nice to be reminded that there is so much more to life.

Reason Five: He's extremely intelligent

It's no secret that Yoongi holds knowledge on a wide range of topics, even outside of music. In recent lives, he has expressed his interest in things such as painting, language-learning, and psychology. While Namjoon has the highest IQ of the bunch and is seen as the smartest of the group, Jungkook has said that he believes Yoongi gives Namjoon a run for his money, stating that he sees Yoongi as a, "disciplined realist who knows how to draw the line between public and private matters." In addition, Yoongi seems to give advice from a place of deep contemplation. When he isn't joking around, his words are definitely inspiring.

In conclusion, Min Yoongi is a well-rounded, open-minded human who inspires me every day to create and learn and listen. He has such a special place in my heart for more reasons than this, but I wanted to take a moment to gush about some of my favorites. Do any of your favorite things differ from mine?
